geese as always

Canada Geese haven’t been out on the pond so much this season, though we often see them overhead. But this morning, four of them swam out in formation from upstream and started honking rhythmically until they attracted the attention of the swan cob, who responding by getting his hackles up and rushing them. Off the geese flew, circling the pond and then heading decisively northeast. It was as if they wanted to fly off anyway, but decided to tease the swan and give him some exercise in the process.
